The Elco EP-70 is a 70 HP electric inboard propulsion system engineered for vessels between 38 and 56 feet. Built entirely in the USA, it replaces conventional gas or diesel inboard engines in the 45–85 HP range with clean, silent, and highly efficient electric power.
The system operates on 108 Vdc nominal (77–120 V range), delivers 29.7 kW continuous power, and reaches up to 1,500 RPM. Its brushless Permanent Magnet AC (PMAC) motor has only one moving part, requiring virtually no scheduled maintenance for thousands of operating hours.
Key features include patented airflow cooling (no seawater plumbing or exhaust required), direct-drive with integrated forward/neutral/reverse, and full NMEA 2000 compatibility via the Elco DASH app for integration with navigation displays and wireless screens.
The EP-70 delivers cruising speeds of 6–8.5 knots with a range of 17–35 nautical miles, and its equivalent fuel economy is rated at 33 MPG. A full recharge takes 4–5 hours with the included Elcon PFC4000 charger, or 3–4 hours with an optional quick charger.
